Neways Back In the Wall Street Journal

Environmentally Responsible Manufacturing at Neways

SPRINGVILLE, Utah, (BUSINESS WIRE) -- "As the safety-conscious company, Neways is committed to employing environmentally safe and healthy manufacturing practices," says Neways COO Brian Slobodow.

"In any industry, maximizing a company's environmentally responsible manufacturing is not an overnight process, but Neways is continually implementing new improvements to reduce our impact on the environment."
Following are several examples of ways in which Neways has introduced eco-friendly elements into our manufacturing facilities and processes:

-- Recycling: In addition to using recyclable packaging whenever possible for our products, Neways also recycles shipping and packaging materials discarded during the manufacturing process, including plastic barrels, corrugated cardboard and metal drums.
-- Biodegradable product formulas: To avoid damaging the ecosystem, Neways uses biodegradable ingredients in products whenever possible, including in laundry detergents.

-- Low water usage: To reduce water waste, Neways installed a cooling water recovery system in its manufacturing plant, which allows for closed-circuit water recycling.

-- Electricity conservation: To use less power, Neways installed high-efficiency, low-wattage lighting in the company's new global distribution center, with timers and motion detectors to reduce waste. In addition, the company is using fluorescent lights that contain less mercury.

"While just about every company today is claiming that it's green," says Brian Slobodow, "you can rest assured that Neways really is making continuous progress in reducing our environmental impact. This is a top priority for our independent distributors, and it's a top priority for the corporation as well."
